The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) has revised its information regarding novel Coronavirus infections for health workers and health sector employers in all settings.

Health Human Resource report released

CMLTO proudly announces the release of its fourth annual Medical Laboratory Technologist Health Human Resource Exploration report. This analysis of the 2012 CMLTO membership data examines MLT practice, employment facility and status, and the provision of MLT education. Funding for professional development

Ongoing professional development is a vital part of an MLT’s professional practice. HealthForceOntario provides financial support for health professionals through the Allied Health Professional Development Fund (AHPDF).
Practising MLTs are one of nine allied health professions eligible to apply for as much as $1500 in professional development funding per MLT, per year. Apply for your reimbursement for professional development activities completed between April 1, 2012 and March 31, 2013.
Applications must be faxed, e-mailed or postmarked within 90 days after the completion of the professional development activity or by March 31, 2013, whichever comes first. Late applications will not be considered.
The application form and guide for the fund, as well as access to the Electronic Health Library are available through the AHPDF website at www.ahpdf.ca.
As of December 31, 2012, less than 40% of the funds allocated to MLTs had been used. Why not take advantage of this offer today?

TPH flu alert for health professionals

20 December 2012

Toronto Public Health (TPH) reports that influenza activity has increased substantially over the last few weeks and is expected to reach a peak in Toronto over the next two weeks. As of December 15, 2012, eight institutional outbreaks and 135 lab-confirmed cases have been reported to TPH. Hospitals can expect an increased pressure in emergency departments and emergency admissions over the next three weeks. Read the full alert (PDF) for more information.
