An election for the professional CMLTO Board Member position on the Board of Directors from District 3 – Metropolitan Toronto Region is underway now.

CMLTO Registrants, who are eligible to vote in District 3, have been notified by email and sent instructions for casting their votes electronically.

Registrants, who believe they are eligible to vote in District 3 but have not received a notification, should send an email to executiveoffice@cmlto.com.

CMLTO encourages all Registrants, who are eligible to vote in District 3, to exercise their professional responsibility and vote for the candidate who they think will actively and effectively govern in the public interest on the Board of Directors.

Poll close date: Friday, September 30, 2022, 12:59 p.m.

Call for Nominations results 

 

The Board establishes CMLTO’s strategic direction and the outcomes that will lead self-regulation forward in the interest of public safety.

 

As published in both articles of the CMLTO Focus newsletter and website, along with an e-blast reminder in May, a call for nominations for election to the Board (in accordance with the CMLTO consolidated Bylaw S.19) was issued for the following Districts:

 

District 2 – Central West Region (Term: Jan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2025)

District 3 – Metropolitan Toronto (Term: Jan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2025)

District 4 – Central East Region (Term: Jan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2025)

District 8 – Registrant-at-Large (Term: Jan 1, 2023 – Dec 31, 2025)

 

Special elections were held for the existing Board vacancies in:

 

District 6 – North East Region (Term: Date elected – Dec 31, 2024)

District 7 – North West Region (Term: Date elected – Dec 31, 2024)

We are delighted to announce the following nominations, which were all received by Friday, May 27th, 2022 at 4:30 PM:

District 3 – Metropolitan Toronto Area Region

Two nominations were received. The candidates were deemed eligible for election, therefore, an online election will be held in District 3 between August 26 – September 30, 2022. Registrants who are eligible to vote will be notified by email.

District 4 – Central East Region

One nomination was received, which was Paula Curti. The candidate was deemed eligible for election and, therefore, declared elected by acclamation.

District 8 – Member-at-Large

One nomination was received, which was Imaya Dharmasri Vithana. The candidate was deemed eligible for election and, therefore, declared elected by acclamation.

There were no nominations received for Districts 2, 6, and 7.

All terms for the Board Members will commence on January 1, 2023.

Keeping your information updated is a professional obligation

Reviewing and updating your information through CMLTO online services is not only required during the registration renewal period. Access your profile at any time to make updates. In fact, MLTs are required by law, to update the following information within 30 days of any changes:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Home address and telephone number
  • Name, address, and phone number of each current employer
  • Job titles.

Registrants must inform the CMLTO if they have been charged with, or found guilty of, an offence and the report must include information about every bail condition or other restriction imposed on them. This report must be made as soon as possible (i.e., no more than 10 days) after the charge is laid. Registrants cannot wait until renewal time to report such a charge. They must report that information to the College by email to professionalconduct@cmlto.com.

Please remember to update your information through CMLTO online services when changes occur. It can be done easily from any computer or device, 24/7 year-round.

CMLTO’s 2022 Annual registration renewal period ended Dec 31, 2021. Registrants renewing after Dec 31st are subject to a late fee. Information related to registration deadlines and fees can be found here.

The CMLTO Registration department mailed “Intention to suspend” notices to all registrants who did not pay their fees by Dec 31st. Those who do not resign their CMLTO registration or fail to pay the 2022 registration fee by 11:59 pm EST on February 6, 2022, will be suspended for non-payment.

A list of suspended registrants will be published in FOCUS and the College will inform registrants’ employers. The Public Register will reflect suspensions and reinstatements in registrants’ profiles.

At its December meeting, the Board also appointed its Officers for 2022 and their terms take effect on January 1, 2022.
